I met him on a Friday back in 1982,
It was New Year’s eve, his birthday and he’d had more than a few.
“You are so beautiful” he sang, as we danced across the floor,
The twinkle in his eye had me keen for so much more.
He charmed me with his wit and passion, his love of beach and surf,
He’s never quite recognised, his true value and self-worth!
He is a quiet achiever and his love knows no bounds,
He’s compassionate and caring and I'm whole when he’s around.
I love him to the moon and back he has a heart of gold,
I'm still so glad I made the vow to “love thee and behold”.
This man is my destiny, my good fortune and my fate,
Fifty years today, Happy Birthday my best mate!
