Rhythm of life

Wild winds whistle through the sleepy swamp oaks that lazily border the waters of the bay. Its beauty never fades!

Ibis and seagulls ravenously scour the weed left behind by the receding tide as wild horses whipped up by the wind race each other to the shoreline.  Even in the depth of my darkness the sounds, sights and smells of life and nature combine to lift my flagging spirit.

I am a child of nature, never more present than when the breeze brushes my face and the scent of sun and sea seep into my skin.

Beetles borough in bark, pelicans pillage and plunder and boats bob and sway, tides turn and change, as they alll mark time with the rhythm of life. Just sitting quietly observing nature makes a mockery of the idea that we can tame the untameable! If nature just moves with the ebb and flow then why is it so hard to be human?

We are prisoners of our chaotic and turbulent minds; they constantly change and seek new direction, rarely are they ever still!

To be human is to be unpredictable!  Wants change, needs like to be met, demands answered and desires fulfilled. We are surrounded by pressure.  Pressure to be unto others, often at the expense of ourselves.

The human brain's ability to reflect on the past and worry about the future complicates the present, and while we are busy looking forward and back we ignore the here and now.

I am suffering a severe sleep deficit! It bamboozles my brain.  I am catastrophizing the minutiae and losing sight of the big picture.  I need to zoom out! Ruminating over the miniscule is murdering me!

I wish the picture in my mind was as clear as the view across the bay today.

Time and tide wait for no one; nothing is more absolute, just as nothing is more certain that death follows life.

Our experiences and our ability to change what isn't certain make us human. We have the power and the choice to determine our own destiny!

The rhythm of my life beats to the sound of a distant drum and as I sit here pondering on my own mortality its dull thud resonates deep within my heart.
